TIME AND TRANSFORMATION

Remember when diamonds were a girl’s best friend? Then, it was yoga pants. Now, it’s inner peace.

No matter where you turn – okay, maybe not in politics – finding inner peace is a hot topic. Celebrities are abuzz with details of their spiritual journeys. Themes of enlightenment appear in TV shows and movies. Oprah dedicates Sunday to our super souls, and Alicia Keys forgoes makeup to show that beauty comes from the inside not the outside.

Songs about the power of loving ourselves and realizing that we are all ONE top the charts. Not that that is anything new. John Lennon’s insightful IMAGINE lyrics were an anthem forty-six years ago.

Pink’s song Just Like Fire talks about lighting up the world, and Kesha’s own words about her new release Praying could’ve been written by millions of us, yet she was the one who so eloquently expressed them.

KESHA – “This song is about me finding peace in the fact that I can’t control everything — because trying to control everyone was killing me. It’s about learning to let go and realize that the universe is in control of my fate, not me. Praying was written about that moment when the sun starts peeking through the darkest storm clouds, creating the most beautiful rainbow. Once you realize that you will in fact be OK, you want to spread love and healing. If you feel like someone has wronged you, get rid of that hate, because it will just create more negativity.”

If you consider that our hearts are like beautiful sparkly diamonds when we’re born, it’s no wonder people are looking to find the shine within. The crusty layers of societal conditioning and negativity built up over the years may have left our hearts looking like diamonds in the rough, but that doesn’t mean that the purity isn’t there. It is. It has never left.

The transformation when we open our hearts, and allow the brilliant radiance to shine out, feels like slipping into comfy yoga pants after wearing dress clothes all day!

I don’t know about you, but I’m happy to say that I have more than one best friend. I have three -diamond heart, yoga pants and inner peace!
